## Overview

Equiem One operates on a role-based interface. This means that for a user to access the interface and see features and widgets relevant to their role, they must first be assigned a specific role at a particular site.

Roles can be assigned to existing users or to new users as part of their invite to join the platform. This article covers how to assign a role to an existing user.

## Assigning a Role

**To assign a Role to a user:**

> 
> 1. Login to Equiem One and click Settings. The page will show you the user list for your selected site.
> 2. Use the search bar to locate the user who’s role you want to update. Open their profile by selecting their name.
> 3. In their profile, navigate to the Roles tab. If you have access to more than one site, select the required site using the drop down list.  
>   
> Then, use the check boxes to select the relevant role(s) for this user.  
>   
> For the Booking Manager and Booking Observer roles, those with access to multiple buildings will also need to select the required building(s) the role should apply to from the drop down provided.
